 Patient Care that is compassionate, appropriate, and effective for the treatment of health problems and the promotion of health

(1) Understanding the use of patient-centered biopsychosocial model

(2)Resident should be able to perform comprehensive history/physical exam relevant to the hem-onc population. (3)Understanding the appropriateness of ordering/performing diagnostic studies.

(4)Ability to integrate history, physical, lab data and diagnostic tests.

(5)Understanding long term follow up of cancer survivors

(1) At least 7 ambulatory Hematology/Oncology clinic sessions training per week

(3)Reviewing peripheral smears with the residents

 Medical Knowledge about established and evolving biomedical, clinical, and cognate (e.g. epidemiological and social-behavioral) sciences and the application of this knowledge to patient care

(1)Pathophysiology and clinical manifestations of common malignancies 

(2)Muliltmodality therapy utilizing chemotherapy, hormonal therapy, biologic therapy, radiation therapy and surgery alone or in combination

(3) Use of palliative meds

(4) Inpatient management of hematological and Oncological emergencies

(5)Knowledge of common adverse effects of chemotherapeutic agents and Radiation therapy

(6)Ability to interpret a peripheral smear

(7) Understanding basic principles of transfusion of blood and blood products.
