ICU/TELEMETRY  TRANSFER POLICY

 

1.    All MICU/CICU/IMCU/Telemetry out-going transfers will go through 5010- 24 hours/day.

 

2.   For transfers from MICU/CICU/IMCU, 5010 will accept the patient, note the name of resident calling  in the transfer, and place patient on the transfer log.

 

 

3.   5010 will maintain this transfer log and periodically check on bed status of the transfers.

 

4.   If patient has not been transferred in 24 hours from ICU, 5010 needs to be re-informed about the transfer by the ICU resident.

 

 

5.   Only when the patient is physically on the floor, 5010 will triage this patient to A-Med, pass on the name of the ICU resident to contact for more information about the patient and take patient off the transfer log.

 

6.   If A-Med has capped, B-Med will manage the patient till 7am.

 

7.  If the patient is unstable, 5010 will call A-Med resident on-call to evaluate and A-med will manage patient till 7am.

 

8.   At 7 am, A-Med resident will call the am 5010 beeper and inform about re-triaging patient.

 

9.   5010 will review the ICU transfer log after picking up the beeper at 7.00am, to make sure all the transfers are picked up.
