Clinical Neurology
Location: Sinai/Grace Hospital
Coordinator: Dr. William Leuchter
Objectives:
- To develop basic skills of
neurological history taking and neurological examination.
- To develop technical
neurologic skills a. lumbar puncture b. tensilon test.
- To develop an approach in the
development and management of differential neurologic diagnoses.
- To develop an understanding
of neuroradiologic and neurophysiologic procedures and their rational use
in the evaluation of neurologic patient.
- To confidently assess and
manage neurologic emergencies.
Methods:
- Transitional interns will be
required to workup patients commensurate with their demonstrated
abilities. These patients will be formally presented to clinical rounder
for analysis and discussion.
- Intens will be expected to
follow management of consult patients at the discretion of the rounder.
- Consult rounds on all
patients are performed on a daily basis.
- X-ray rounds are performed at
least twice per week.
- Mandatory attendance at all
neuroscience conferences.
- The intern will be assigned a
topic for discussion to be presented at the end of the elective to the
entire consult service.
